Zaidu Sanusi is a 24-year-old Nigerian International footballer from Kebbi state, Nigeria, who plays as a left fullback/wingback. He was discovered while playing for an amateur side Mutunchi FC in a tournament in Kaduna state, Nigeria. He impressed the European club scouts, and it wasn’t long before he was snapped up by Portuguese Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente FC in 2016. Unfortunately, injuries and lack of opportunities hampered him during his two-year stint with the club.

This led to his joining second-tier side SC Mirandela. Sanusi’s impressive performances with the second division club earned him a move back to the Portuguese top-flight, joining SD Santa Clara in 2019, where he scored one goal and provided 3 assists in 27 appearances.

Sanusi’s standout display for SD Santa Clara eventually landed him a big-money, 5-years contract move to FC Porto. He was originally signed as a backup for first-choice left fullback Alex Telles but soon, took over the left-back position following the departure of the Brazilian. Sanusi has been impressive so far by posting solid defensive displays for the Dragons.

Sanusi made his debut with the Nigeria national team in a friendly 1–0 defeat against Algeria on the 9th October, 2020.

Zaidu Sanusi’s style is reminiscent of modern-day fullbacks who love to get forward with a good pace,he boasts of energy, speed as well as excellent crosses.
