WE EXPECT MORE MEDALS AS MINISTER BOOST ATHLETES WITH CASH REWARDS- RUEL ISHAKU

President of the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Ruel Ishaku is optimistic that more medals will pour in for team Nigeria at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 paralympic games in Japan.


Ishaku disclosed this to www.ckdmedia.ng in Japan after Bosede Omolayo lifts 141kg to win the 79kg class of the para Powerlifting event and secure Nigeria's second gold medal in paralifting after Latifat Tijani had earlier one Nigeria's first gold medal.


According to the president " we came to the paralympic games with 10 athletes, and already we have won 2 gold and 2 bronze medal. We still have hope for more medals as the game continues tomorrow"


" I want to use this medium to appreciate the minister of youth and Sports development, Sunday Dare for boosting the morale of the athletes with a huge sum of money as winning bonuses. That has never happened before in the history of paralympic games. So it's a very big thank you to the honourable minister"


" On my part as the federation president, I have decided to compliment the Minister's gesture by rewarding gold medallist with a hundred thousand naira, silver medallist will get seventy thousand naira while bronze medallist will get fifty thousand naira".


The Tokyo 2020 paralympic games will climaxes September 5th as Nigeria hopes to surpass Rio 2016 feat.
