Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has now moved up to joint second on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list, surpassing the iconic Yakubu Aiyegbeni, after his goal in Uyo against Benin Republic.
The reigning CAF African Player of the Year’s goal during Nigeria’s dominant 3-0 victory over Benin Republic propelled him to 22 goals for the national team, edging past Yakubu’s tally of 21.
In six minutes after stepping onto the pitch, Osimhen found the back of the net, showcasing his lethal prowess as a finisher.
The Galatasary loanee has now scored an incredible 22 goals in 36 appearances for the Super Eagles.
Osimhen is now gunning for the record of Nigerian goalscoring legend, Rashidi Yekini, who holds the record for goals scored with 37 goals. Osimhen is 15 more goals shy of tying Yekini's record.
