U20 WAFU Cup: Flying Eagles Force Menas Of Niger Republic To A Barren Draw In Test Game

April, 30 2022.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria under the watchful eyes of coach Ladan Bosso, drew their first international friendly ahead of the U20 WAFU Cup against the host nation, Niger Republic.

The match which the Flying Eagles could have won with ease, ended in a draw because the attackline of the Nigerians missed so many scoring opportunities. The greatest culprit being Plateau United’s striker, Hilary Albert who missed two clear chances in the first half of the match.

The defense line was really solid, led by Captain Oluwatosin Adegbite. The Abia Warriors right back was simply a delight to watch, his overlapping runs from the flank gave the hosts so much problem in the goal area, his crosses were not converted. Water FC goalkeeper, Nathaniel Nwosu made some brilliant saves in the match.

Coach Ladan Bosso substituted all the strikers and the midfielders in the second half, only the defense line, alongside the goalkeeper finished the match.

The Flying Eagles have another test game on Monday, 2nd of May, before the commencement of the WAFU tournament.

Flying Eagles starting 11 in the match against the Menas of Niger Republic are; Nathaniel Nwosu, Njoku Augustine, Abubakar Babaji, Daniel Daga, Oluwatosin Adegbite, Bolu Sholumade, lekan Oyedele, Tolulope Ojo, Aminu Muhammed, Hilary Albert and Adams Olubi.
