There was a ray of light at the end of the tunnel for Team Nigeria after Olympic bronze winner Ese Brume and Ruth Usoro qualified for the final of the Long Jump event at the on-going World Athletics Championship, in Eugene, Oregon.
Ese Brume overcame a slow start to leap 6.82m while Usoro made 6.69m leap. It implies that Nigeria will be having two long jumpers competing in the final at the World Championships for the first time.
U.S.A's Quanesha Burks leads the women's jump qualifications with 6.86m followed by Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany (6.84m) and Ese Brume is third with 6.82m.
