Solomon Agbalaka on Wednesday scooped the man of the match award, after his bullet header in the 71st minute gave the Flying Eagles of Nigeria a battling 1-0 victory, over a wasteful Under-20 Pharaohs of Egypt, at the Cairo International Stadium.
The goal stemmed the tide in favour of Nigeria, after the Egyptians had the better of the exchanges, promoting goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagbaoso to make a string of big saves, ensured that the Flying Eagles picked their first 3 points of the tournament at the expense of the host nation.
Solomon Agbalaka whose forays cause a lot of panic in the final 3rd and defence lines of the Young Pharaohs, is an academy product, who last played for the now defunct NPFL Club, Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC, Lagos.
His goal in the 71st minute, via a superb nodding, silenced the fans in the stadium, but was much to the delight of the technical crew of the Flying Eagles led by Coach Ladan Issa Bosso.
In their final Group A fixture, the Flying Eagles will face Mozambique, and Agbalaka is already looking beyond the crunch encounter, by telling CAF online.com that, it is a must win for Nigeria to fully eliminate the ghost of their disappointing loss to Senegal, on Sunday.
Senegal who are already through to the quarterfinals with 6 points from the wins against Nigeria and Mozambique, takes on the hosts, Egypt who will have to pull something special from the hat, to avoid being eliminated early from the competition.
