Super Six: Obioma's early strike savage maximum points for Enyimba

June, 5 2023.

The matchday two encounter of the ongoing IMC/NPFL Super Six Championship between Lobi Stars and Enyimba lived up to its billing as both teams exhibited good football artistry to the delight of the massive spectators at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Lobi Stars dominated the early part of the proceedings but could not make their early chance count.

The People's Elephant later put their noses in front with a clever header from Emeka Obioma after Lobi Stars defense failed to clear a lofty cross into the box by Ebube Duru to give Enyimba the early lead.

What could have restored parity for the Pride of Benue in the 28th minutes was cleverly saved by Enyimba goalie, Olorunleke Ojo.

With just five minutes on the clock before halftime, Wasiu Alalade unleashed a fierce strike that was heading for the top corner, but Olorunleke Ojo proved his mettle once again as he produced a big save to maintain Enyimba slender lead.

Both teams went for halftime break with a goal advantage for Enyimba.

The second 45 minutes witnessed a slow start as both teams looked jaded. Enyimba produced the first clear cut chance of the second half as Lobi Stars goalie, Atsaka Daniel produced a fine save to deny Tijani Kabiru from increasing Enyimba goal tally.

The Pride of Benue came close to even the score line through Ani Elijah, but his fierce long range drive was saved by Ojo Olorunleke.

Lobi Stars Dominated the possession at the dying minutes of the game which later resulted to some scoring opportunities, but Enyimba defense led by Somiari Alalibo kept them at bay.

Coach Baba Ganaru and his counterpart from Enyimba introduced some fresh legs to fortify their respective teams but the changes could not affect the score line as the game ended 1-0 in favour of Enyimba.

With this slender victory, the Peoples Elephant are temporarily on top of the IMC/NPFL Championship table with four points, while Lobi Stars are still searching for their first win of the tournament.
