Samad Kadiri's Penalty Separates Kwara, Akwa in Ilorin

The Opening ten minutes of the week thirty Nigeria Professional Football League match involving Kwara United and Akwa united was a cagey affair with little to separate both teams in terms of possession but it was the host who had the first attempt with samad kadiris volley from close range sailing wide.


Akwa nearly got a break through when Osayande excellent pass was nearly met by Ubong however Abdulateef Ishola race out on time to clear. Moments later, David Philip was flash a yellow for obstruction.


The Harmony Boys had half chances, Balogun perfect cross evades Danbani and Samad, Ejehs shot from distance saved by Efala. However just around the half hour mark, Kabir Balogun was brought down by Ubong in the thirty second minute before Samad Kadiri converts from the resultant spotkick to give the Harmony Boys a nil advantage going to half time.


Both teams made quick changes before resumption of the second half with Ayobami Junior replacing Alao Danbani while Akwa throws in Samuel Ayadi for Austin Osayande.


Ejeh Isaiah escape a second booking with a couple of rash challenges within ten minutes before Franklin Matib blasted wide after failing to get a proper connect to Amadi's lobbed pass.


Substitute David Onovo shoot straight at Ishola from a tight angle while Efala got a strong hand on Ayobami Junior's shot. Both teams made late switch in terms of personnel in a bid to twist the game but it was Kwara United who held on for a slim win.


Kwara united assistant coach, Lukman Ijaiya was satisfied with his Boys performances but couldn't hide his frustration in their failure to convert missed chances.


His opposite number, Deji Ayeni of Akwa United said his team performed below average however, he maintained his wards will regroup for a better outing in their next game.
