Rivers State Governor, Fubara Hosts Port Harcourt Boys Nwabali & Finidi, Super Eagles coach Peseiro

Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara, recently played host to esteemed sons of the soil, Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George, and mercurial goalkeeper of the Super Eagles, Stanley Nwabali, as well as the team's Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro. The warm reception was in recognition of their exceptional performances at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d'Ivoire, where the team achieved a commendable second-place finish.


In a gracious gathering, Governor Fubara expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Super Eagles representatives for their remarkable contributions to Nigerian football. He commended their dedication, resilience, and outstanding teamwork, which propelled the team to an impressive AFCON campaign.


Rivers-born Stanley Nwabali, a proud Port Harcourt boy, received special recognition during the gathering. Having commenced his football journey at Go Round FC of Omoku, Nwabali's stellar performances in the goalkeeping position, captured the hearts of football enthusiasts nationwide. The youths of his community paid homage to his mother at their family house, showering her with praises for her son's heroic displays, notably in the match against South Africa.


Similarly, Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George, a native of Port Harcourt, was lauded for his invaluable contributions to Nigerian football.


Governor Fubara reminisced about George's early years, where he honed his skills playing school sports in Rivers State before embarking on a successful career both domestically and internationally.


During the gathering, Governor Fubara extended his best wishes to the Super Eagles representatives, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and serving as role models for aspiring footballers across the state.


The event concluded with a sense of camaraderie and pride, symbolizing the unwavering support of Rivers State for its talented athletes and their remarkable achievements on the global stage.
