Remo's Isah Ali Dropped From Super Eagles Games Over Match Fixing Scandal in Ghana

Newly invited Super Eagles defender, Isah Ali is unlikely to get the opportunity to honour his maiden call up after being banned by the Ghana Football Association over match fixing scandal in the Ghanaian League.


The Remo Stars defender was implicated in a match fixing quagmire in a game between Ashanti Gold SC and Inter Allies FV (while he was playing for Inter Allies) in July 2021.


Alongside other players, he was banned for 24 months according to Article 34.5 (d)(I) of the Ghanaian Premier League Regulations.


On 17th July 2021, Ashantigold SC played Inter Allies FC in the 2020/21

Ghana Premier League match day 34 game at the Obuasi Len Clay

Stadium. After the match, there were several reports within the local and international football space that the match was fixed to fulfill a correct score of 5 goals to 1 in favor of Ashantigold SC. The match eventually ended in 7 goals to 0 against Inter Allies FC.
