The return of Enugu Rangers to their traditional home ground, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, otherwise called the cathedral is imminent.
General Manager & Chief Executive of the Flying Antelopes, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku stated this while speaking with veteran sportscaster, Michelle Obi on a live Radio Show, Kenis 104.5 FM, on Thursday.
For the second consecutive season, Rangers are playing their home games in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), at the Awka Township Stadium; while the turf of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, at Uwani, Enugu and other subsidiary components of the playing pitch, are being relayed and renovated.
According to Amobi Ezeaku, with the recomposition of the technical crew of the team, fans of the seven-time NPFL champions should expect a more entertaining style of play, reminiscing the Rangers of old.
According to him, "the rebranding of Rangers cuts across the club's management, coaching crew and the recruitment of several youngsters, who are easier to learn new tricks and adapt to the philosophy of the side's new helmsman, Fidelis Ilechukwu".
The General Manager, who is a trained lawyer added that management of the the club, has also decided to prioritize the welfare and needs of the players and is doing more to attract more sponsors and partners to improve the club's finances, and make the team more competitive.
Barrister Ezeaku further said the players and coaching crew are not under any pressure to win the league, but will gladly celebrate the title should Rangers finish the season, on top of the log.
"As for now, the goal is to win a ticket to return to any of CAF's Inter-club Championships, and to achieve this, the plan is to take each game and match-day on their merit; and continue to work on the mentality of the players and members of the technical crew to always remain positive", he posited.
Baring their result in Lafia against their nemesis, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, on Thursday; Enugu Rangers are seated second on the NPFL log with 10 points, 2 adrift of Remo Stars of Ikenne, who presently tops the table with 12 points; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
