Qualifying For The World Cup Is Our Plan- Amaju Pinnick

The NFF President, Amaju Pinnick has shown commitment in qualifying Nigeria for the World Cup.


Pinnick visited Ighalo in Dubai, ensuring his availability for the match against Ghana. Amaju also made his intention known about communicating with all Super Eagles players, ahead of the qualifying match.


“Qatar2022, in my opinion is non-negotiable. Qualifying for the World Cup is our plan. Qualifying for next year’s AFCON is also built into our future plans.


“I just met with Ighalo, the highest goal scorer at the 2019 edition of the AFCON, now playing and still scoring goals for Saudi Arabia’s biggest football club. Odion has assured that playing for his country will always come first and he is ready to ensure that we do play at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.


“We are also hoping to have a zoom call with all of our players as well. The essence is to ensure that issues any player might have, is thrashed out so that we all have the same focus qualifying for the World Cup”.


Pinnick also spoke about the switch in the Nationality of Ademola Lookman.


“I’m also glad to announce that the work we’ve put in has ensured that on-loan Leicester City winger, Ademola Lookman’s application to change his nationality and represent Nigeria has been approved by FIFA. I can’t wait to see him make our Super Eagles more formidable”.


Amaju Pinnick praised the Minister’s support and commitment to see the Super Eagles qualify for Qatar2022.


The Honourable Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare will be leading a delegation to the United Kingdom, to hold meetings with Super Eagles players.


The NFF President concluded by saying, the Minister’s support is invaluable.
