Potential Dooms Day for Heartland FC as Boboye Return to Aba to Face Nazé Millionaires

March, 2 2024.

...Remo Stars Downs Bayelsa Utd. to Retake Top Spot

All eyes are expected to switch to the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, as troubled Heartland FC of Owerri, hosts Sunshine Stars of Akure, with Coach Kennedy Boboye being the main attraction of Sunday's Day 23 fixtures of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Coach Boboye left Owerri full of emotions, when he was in acrimonious circumstances asked to relinquish his position as Technical Adviser of Heartland FC, six weeks after he was hired by the club's hierarchy, to rescue the club which was languishing in the drop zone.

Briefing the media of his depature, moments after steering Heartland to a remarkable 3-1 victory over Remo Stars FC, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri; Boboye was seen on video shedding tears, over his imminent and inexplicable depature from a team, he already took from the foot of the table, to within one point and one spot of safety.

What happened to be Heartland FC's loss, became the gain of Sunshine Stars FC, who swooped on the two-time NPFL championship winning gaffer; following the sacking of Coach Edith Agoye, during the mid-season break.

Going into today's encounter, Heartland FC are still rooted to bottom of the table with 18 points; whilst the Akure Gunners did the improbable on Wednesday, by defeating Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-0, to climb to 15th on the log, with 26 points - that's 2 points and two places, clear of the last relegation spot, presently occupied by Niger Tornadoes of Minna.

Niger Tornadoes aka the Ikon Allah Boys are themselves home to Rangers Int'l FC of Enugu, who could extend their run of wins in the second round to four from four games, and make it two wins in successive away games, should they beat Niger Tornadoes, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, in Kaduna.

Lobi Stars which retained their place at the summit of the table, despite losing to Sunshine Stars in Akure, are back home in Lafia to a rejuvenated Katsina United side, which edged Kano Pillars 3-2 in a thrilling Arewa derby, played at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium, in Katsina, on Wednesday.

Having recorded the biggest win of Day 22, Plateau United FC will be bullish when hosting an out-of-sorts Bendel Insurance of Benin, at the New Jos Stadium, in Zaria Road.

In the only Day-23 fixture played yesterday, Adams Olamilekan netted the only goal, in the 72nd minute, to give Remo Stars a 1-Nil victory over a resilient Bayelsa United FC, at the Ikenne-Remo Stadium.

The battling victory saw the Sky-Blues retake the leadership of the NPFL log, albeit on superior goal difference; as they went level with Enugu Rangers and Lobi Stars, on 39 points apiece, all from 22 games played thus far, this season; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

Three other Day 23 fixtures are scheduled for Monday; when Doma United will look to resurrect their dwindling campaign, in the 3pm kick-off against Sporting FC of Lagos; at the Pantami Stadium, in Gombe.

Elsewhere in Aba, Enyimba Int'l FC which was top of the log after midweek games; could retake the lead, with victory against fumbling visitors, Akwa United of Uyo; and Kano Pillars are home to manager-less Abia Warriors; who won their last match, despite not having their substantive Head Coach, Erasmus Onuh in the dugout.
