Sunshine Stars will face Yobo FC Saturday afternoon in the semi-final of the ongoing Ottasolo Pre-season Tournament holding in Lagos.
The Owena Whales topped Group B with the maximum nine points after beating MFM 2-1 this afternoon at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Alaba Adeniyi drew the first blood for Sunshine Stars in the 18th minute off Babatunde Bello's brilliant assist while Azeez Ajagbe scored his second goal of the tournament to make 2-0 for the Akure based side in the 47th minute.
MFM hit back almost immediately through Oludayo Alabi a minute later to make it 2-1. It was the first time the Owena Whales would concede a goal in the tourney but they held on to secure the three points.
Earlier, Lobi Stars outwitted 36 Lion 2-1 to ensure they finished atop Group A with seven points from three games. Onyeabuchi Onyeaka and Barnabas Imenger scored for the Pride of Benue in the ninth and 80th minute while Usor Moses halved the deficit with his goal for 36 Lion in the 42nd minute.
Despite losing 2-1 to Sunshine Stars, MFM nicked the second ticket from Group B. They ended the group stage with the same number of points with Smart City- four points.
The Olukoya Boys, however, scaled through to the semi-final by virtue of the better goals scored. They netted twice as against one goal scored by Smart City. They will slug it out with Lobi Stars Saturday morning by 9.00am in the of first of the last-four ties.
