NSF 2022: Makinde's Naira Rain Slashed on Asaba Athletes, as Oyo Plots Better Outing in 2024

Despite the charged political atmosphere and intense political activities, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde wearing the toga of the No.1 citizen of the state, with all the paraffenelia of the state, honoured athletes that represented and won laurels for the state, at the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival, held last December in Asaba, Delta State.


At the same reception, the Governor ceased the opportunity to congratulate Team Nigeria athletes, from the Pacesetter State, that won medals for the country, at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, last year.


At the ceremony, Governor Makinde repeatedly referred to the athletes with Podium Performances, as winning athletes, true ambassador of the State, be it in Nigeria or in the United Kingdom.


Team Nigeria with an Unprecedented record of 12 Gold medals won by 12 different ladies, Nigeria finished the games with a plump, thus making Birmingham Nigeria's best ever.

Athletes Without Medals got - #250,000:00 as a pat on their back by the Governor, who also asked them to train even harder, with a view to surpassing the number of medals, hauled in Asaba, at the next edition of the fiesta, billed to hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
