A piece of history was added to the folklore of the increasingly exciting Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL); when seventeen-year-old, Yusuf Abdullahi reset many records in the league that started in 1972 on his way to scoring all five goals in the 5-2 trouncing of Gombe United, at the Pantami Stadium, on Sunday.
Yusuf gave Pillars an unlikely two-goal lead, by netting in the 7th and 14th minute, before Sadiq Shuaibu scored in the 17th minute, to halve the deficit for the hosts.
Yusuf restored the two-goal cushion of the Sai Masu-Gida when making it 3-1 in the 33rd minute; but again, Gombe United reduced the tally through Ahmed Jimoh.
Yusuf though had the last word in the first half, by netting his fourth of the day; to give Kano Pillars an emphatic 4-2 half time lead.
With both sides, being a bit more defensive in the second half, chances were rare to come-by, and there were no further goals; until the hour mark, when Yusuf capped his man-of-the-match performance, with a fifth goal on the day; to complete an unprecedented quintuple, in the 53-year-history of the NPFL.
Victory in Sunday's early kick-off, saw Kano Pillars climb to 7th in the table, with 16 points; while producing one of the rare road victories, in the elite division, this season; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
