Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) new boys, Sporting Lagos FC have taken a step further, aimed at stabilizing the side in the nation's top flight, football league.
Under the headship of seasoned journalist Godwin Enahena as Chairman and Head Coach Paul Offor; Sporting FC, the fastest growing sports franchise in Nigerian football, made it to the elite division within two (2) seasons of the club's inauguration.
Having already warmed hearts, especially of fans in Lagos, who had been starved of NPFL action, following the relegation and subsequent disbandment of MFM FC after the 2021/22 season; the club has suddenly discovered that they still has a bit of work to do, if they are to remain competitive in the Premier League.
As a consequence, the club's hierarchy has moved quickly to appoint and announce seasoned football coach, Paul Aigbogun as Technical Director.
According to the club, the duty of the Esan-born tactician will be to provide additional technical support for the senior team and also work closely with the club’s football academy and affiliate club, Aarhus Fremad FC.
Aigbogun, who had stints with Warri Wolves and Enyimba of Aba between 2010-2018, and was at a time the head coach of Nigeria's Flying Eagles at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup is a UEFA-licensed coach.

Sporting Lagos returns to NPFL action on Sunday with a home tie against winless but desperate looking Heartland FC of Owerri, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, in Onikan, Lagos.
While Heartland with five (5) draws in eight games, will be gunning for their first three (3) points of the season; the count will begin for Aigbogun and Coach Offor, whose Sporting FC are in a respectable 10th position, with eleven (11) points - six (6) points, off the pace of the leaders, Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
Elsewhere, only two Day-9 games are on the card for Saturday in the NPFL.
Ambitious Doma United FC also known as the Savannah Tigers are host of Plateau United FC of Jos, at the Pantami Stadium, in Gombe, starting from 3pm; while the tie in Benin, between Bendel Insurance and Kwara United of Ilorin kicks off at 4pm.
