NPFL: Remo Stars & Insurance Of Benin, Are Teams With Perfect Win Records So Far

January, 25 2022.

Remo Stars of Ikenne on Wednesday defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan 2-0 in the first installment of a South West derby, that saw Coach Gbenga back in Remoland, for a duel against the side helped to finish in a respectable 3rd position, which secured for them a slot in one of CAF's Inter-Club Championships, the Confederation Cup.

First, the convincing victory in Ikenne was courtesy of two second half goals, and it means Remo Stars is now the only team in the 2022/2023 Abridged Nigeria Premier Football League, that has yet to concede a goal thus far.

After three weeks of breathtaking football from the side, they are now, only the second team, along with promoted Insurance of Benin, with 9 maximum points from three opening fixtures, at the summit of the Group A table.

Aside the 100 percent win record, Remo Stars also has the bragging right of being the only team, not to have conceded a goal, in the over 270 minutes duration of those games.

The Coach Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Stars, paraded a very good shot stopper in goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, whose top saves in-between the sticks are reinforced by a water tight backline.

Hence, it is not a surprise to pundits and followers of the NPFL, that they are joint leaders of Group A and holds the tag of having the most miserly defence, in both divides of the league. www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

Haven exited their inaugural participation in the CAF Confederation Cup in the first Preliminary round, things are looking up once again, and so far, they look set to return to the continent, although it is too early in the season to conclusively say so.

In the last three matches they played this season, Remo Stars defeated El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 2-0 in Ikenne, won their away game against Gombe United 1-0 at the Pantami Stadium, before returning home to humble 3SC of Ibadan 2-0.
