NPFL MD 9: Ogunmondede Rues Missed Chances in Jos, as Nasarawa Utd Ends First Stanza on a High

February, 20 2023.

Head Coach of Remo Stars of Ikene, Daniel Ogunmodede has attributed his team's 0-2 loss to Nasarawa United, in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Day-9 encounter, on Monday, to the inability of his strikers to burry the chances the team created, especially before the hosts scored the first of their two goals, at the new Jos Stadium.

Troubled Nasarawa United which was rock bottom of the Group A log, ceased the momentum to comfortably beat Remo Stars 2-0; with goals from Joshua John (8th minute) and Emmanuel Ogbole, 2 minutes after the break.

The loss means Remo Stars remained 5th on the log with 14 points, same as Plateau United, who are fourth by virtue of superior goals difference; but both are a whopping 9 points adrift of Bendel Insurance, who ended the first stanza, undefeated, in nine games and are top of the table.

On the other hand, Victory took the points tally of Nasarawa United from four to seven; but despite ending the stanza on a high, the Solid Miners will remain in the red zone - second from the bottom of the log.

The other Group A encounter played at the Pantami Stadium, saw Gombe United edge Plateau United in a five goal thriller. 3-2 it ended in the North East, and Gombe United are now on 10 points, 5 point above basement side, El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

Speaking after the match, Coach Bala Nikyu of Nasarawa United said returning to Lafia one, for the second stanza as already approved by the IMC, may not make much difference, as Jos felt like home too, to him and the entire team.

He however conceded that the team had a very difficult start to their campaign, this season, and should be able to use the period of the break, to get the team firing on all cylinders again, with a view to beating the drop.

On the other hand, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars identified ineffective marksmanship, as the bane of his forwards in virtually every game they played this season.

He promised to work together with his attackers in particular, with a view to bettering their conversation rate, and current 5th position on the log, in the second stanza. www.ckdmedia.ng report.

On Wednesday; two struggling sides Elkanemi Warriors and Kwara United will clash behind closed doors in Maiduguri, after which the NPFL will proceed on a break, to resume when the General Elections of February 25th and March 11th, 2023 are done with.
