Bendel Insurance of Benin on Wednesday, handed Nasarawa United yet another defeat, to retain their status as Group A leaders, of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), now in its 8th Matchday.

Despite dropping precious points in their last two games, at home to Gombe United and away to 3SC in Ibadan, Insurance were the favourites going into the match against the Solid Miners, who previously had just a win, a draw and 5 losses from their last 7 games, played.

Ebuka Akobundu scored the only goal of the match in the 52 min, as the Benin Arsenal won 1-0 and took their points tally to 20; while Nasarawa United which ended the tie in Benin with 10 men, suffered their sixth defeat of the campaign, to stay bottom of the log.

Chukwuemeka Obioma scored both goals as Enyimba Int'l defeated Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-0 in Aba to climb to 2nd place on the Group A log; with 16 points, from a possible 24.

Going to the match, Obioma had 5 goals to his name, same as Imade Osarenkhoe of Insurance; meaning with his brace against 3SC, the Enyimba of Aba youngster now leads the scorers' chart with 7 goals.

There were five different scorers in Jos, as Plateau United decimated promoted El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 5-0, to underline their intentions for the season.

Kwara United drew goalless with visiting

Remo Stars of Ikene, in Coach Kabiru Dogo's first match in charge of the Afonja Warriors; while Coach Abdullahi Adamu who took over from him at Wikki led the Tourists to inflict a rare 2-1 defeat on Lobi Stars of Makurdi, in Bauchi.

A goal in each half by Guda Muhammed earned the resurgent Wikki Tourists the win, over Lobi Stars, who retained their place as Group B log leaders, despite the loss.

After churning out some fascinating results, in their first four games; Niger Tornadoes of Minna are now without a win after four matches, after the Ikon Allah Boys were held 1-1 by Bayelsa United, in Kaduna.

Dakkada FC had to dig deep for a 2-1 victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure, in Uyo; while Doma United scored late to defeat Abia Warriors of Umuahia 1-0, at the Pantami Stadium, in Gombe.

The Penultimate Match Day 8 fixture between Akwa United and Gombe United holds on Thursday, starting from 4pm, at the Godswill Apkabio International Stadium, in uyo. www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

However, the last Day-8 encounter between Rivers United and Enugu Rangers, billed for Port Harcourt has been postponed indefinitely by the IMC, apparently due to the late return of the Pride of Rivers, back to the country, after they got thrashed 3-0 in Brazzaville, on Saturday, by Diables Noirs of Congo.
