The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced dates and venue for it's 2022/23 Relegation Play-offs.
The playoffs involving eight teams, drawn from the two conferences, will decide the four teams to retain their status in the nation's second tier football league (NNL), and the four that will be relegated to the third tier league, the Nigeria Nationwide League One.
The play-offs will hold in the ancient Groundnut Pyramids city of Kano, after the Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf graciously accepted to host the season ending tournament.
According to a statement released on Tuesday morning, by the Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Otumba Emmanuel Adesanya, all matches will hold at the famous Sani Abacha Stadium, in Kofarmata from August 6th-10th, 2023.
The eight clubs: Adamawa United, Ikorodu City FC, ABS FC of Ilorin, FWC Champions of Abuja, Sokoto United, Smart City FC, Hensard FC, and Edel Club of Oba in Anambra State; as well as the match officials are all expected to arrive in Kano on or before August 5, for the pre-tournament formalities.
The Four top clubs, otherwise, the semifinalists would retain their places in the NNL in the upcoming 2023/24 Season, whilst the bottom four would be officially relegated to the NLO.
Recall that not long ago, the NNL in conjunction with the Delta State government, hosted a hugely successful Super 8 Promotional Play-offs, which saw Heartland FC of Owerri, Kano Pillars, Sporting Lagos and Katsina United gain promotion to the nation's elitist league, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
