Super Eagles of Nigeria and SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen completed his first century of league goals yesterday, by scoring from the penalty spot in his clubs 2-0 defeat of Sassuolo, at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, in Naples.
Osimhen's well struck penalty in the 16th minute of the game, took his goal tally in leagues, including those scored for the reigning Serie A Champions, to a record 100th.
The visitors, Sassuolo had a red card in the 51st minute, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo capitalized on their being a man short, to score the second goal that sealed the points for Napoli in the 64th minute.
The comfortable win, ensured that the Italian champions with a new Coach at the helm, Rudi Garcia began the defence of the Scudetto they won last season on a promising note, and with consecutive victories, having also won 3-1 on Day-1 away to Frosinone with Osimhen netting a brace in the road win.
The 24-year-old Osimhen topped the scorers sheet last season with 26 goals, and helped a great deal in ensuring that Napoli won their third Serie A title and the first, since the 1989/1990 season.
Having previously played for vfL Wolfsburg in Germany, Sporting Charleroi and Lille Metropole in France, Oshimen moved to Napoli in 2020, and until recently, there were rumours about him jumping sheep to play in the lucrative Saudi Pro-League, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
