November, 13 2021.

Following the ongoing Super 8 Basketball League at the Moshood Abiola indoor complex hall, new talents is at the doorstep of getting invitation to respective National teams, with display that caught the eyes of scanty spectators in the Stadium.

"I must confess that it's a good thing and we are discovering new talents now, putting young boys and coming up to showcase their talent. From this, we can get good hands that can represent us at continental level".

The major thing has to do with Basketball African League, for us to have a representative, we must compete in the game now. With the way things are, do you think we are going to have a worthy representative?

"Of course yes and that's why we have good skills here and if you stay longer, you will see the skills these young men are going to showcase. We are likely to get the best out here, that are going to represent us at the continental level".

On World Cup Qualifier against Angola next year, how many of them have been able to rob shoulders with the teams that may come from abroad and do you think you can take some players to join up with the list?

"Definitely we'll have both young and old champs rubbing shoulders together. The last time we had them coming together, we’re trying to get the best from the 8 teams. We'll put them together, everybody will prove their skills and whoever proves his skills will definitely be in the team. There will be no element of biased, if you know you are good and you can play this game, you can show up. So, I'm so sure, these kids are going to do their best".

Talking about the kids doing their best, you know we have issues. D'tigress are complaining about unpaid allowances but the ministry has said that majority has just been settled. Looking towards next year, are we sure that all the players will turn up if given the National call?

"I want to tell you the truth considering our survey so far, if things continue the way it is presently, most of the boys will not put in their best but they also have a double mind that if incase the table changes and the old faces are back on play, then there could be some instructions. Because I don't know the young men having a meeting among themselves across the country, they are willing to play basketball, you can see all of them out of the 8 teams, 7 are here because of logistics. So, if all these boys can gather here, some even came on their own, that's to tell you that basketball in the country is far ahead of what people think".

On the letter from FIBA that the crisis in the house should be resolved before November 30. Do you think there would be enough time to put up everybody?

"If we can get our house together, it’s better. I think Nigeria is bigger than FIBA and i think the best thing to do is for us to get our home properly settled and let these players have confidence in us, before we can move forward. We cannot be talking of FIBA when we know we are having crisis. Must we allow our home to burn? Never! I will not even support it. If the young men and women that are supposed to represent us can say no to these people and they want fresh hands and legs to come up, then we don't have a choice. Let the time come, let the crisis be settled, then we go ahead".
