The draw that will produce the fixtures and order of play at the inaugural edition of the Naija Super 8 season ending tournament has been scheduled for Thursday, and will be live on AfricaSports on Supersport CH 209 and GOtv CH 64 from 7:30pm, Nigerian time.
The draw to be performed by a Super Eagles legend, and former Africa Footballer of the Year, Victor Nosa Ikpeba, will have Bendel Insurance youngster and mecurial midfielder Ini-Obong Okon assisting Ikpeba, who now works with Supersport
as a football pundit.
Ini-Obong Okon, who was drafted into the main team from the Bendel Insurance Feeders side, on Sunday won several hearts, including the organizers of the Naija Super 8 with his deft touches and sublime goal that saw the Benin Arsenal draw level with Rivers United 2-2, before the dethroned NPFL Champions scored in stoppage time to win the playoffs for the South-South Zone.
Although his team lost the ticket, the sterling performance of Ini-Obong, and his stunning goal which has gone viral on Social Media platforms, have been selected by the Technical Committee in Eket, as the goal of the playoffs www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
While the spectacular goal continues to resonate in the country's football space, the midfielder got a cash reward of one hundred thousand Naira, a certified match-ball, a medal and invitation to the Naija Super 8 draw ceremony, as ambassador of the play-offs.
Speaking after the match, the award-winning scorer Ini-Obong Okon expressed sadness over Insurance, the inability of the newly crowned Federation Cup kings to make it to Lagos for the Super 8 proper, but thanked his Coaches for the opportunity given him to play in front of his family. He also thanked Akwa-Ibom fans for their support.
