The two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixtures decided on Wednesday, just on time for the league to observe a mid-season break, produced favourable but contrasting results for the two visiting teams, involved.
In Yenagoa, reigning champions, Rivers United of Port Harcourt drew 2-2 with Bayelsa United; who twice came from behind to seal the draw, and earned a share of the spoils.
The Pride of Rivers lead twice through goals from Chiamaka Madu in the 35th min and Malachi Ohawume in the 66th minute; only to be pegged back by Daniel Epko (51st min) and Robert Mizo's added time equalizer.
The draw saw Rivers United points tally increased to 14 - five points adrift of Group B leaders, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, and they are now 3rd on the table, fractionally behind second placed Sunshine Stars of Akure.
Meanwhile Bayelsa United are now 8th on the log, with just 8 points, from nine matches played, in the first stanza of the Abridged League.
Elsewhere, there was a massive come from behind victory for Coach Kabiru Dogo led Kwara United who edged El-kanemi Warriors 2-1 behind closed stadium gates, in Maiduguri.
Promoted El-kanemi Warriors drew first blood through David Nnaji's 20th min goal, as the hosts took the lead to the break.
But two second half goals off the boots of Jide Fatokun and Godwin Anyalogu in the 61st and 72nd minute, turned the tide in favour of the visiting Afonja Warriors, who goes to the mid-season break in 7th position on the Group B log, with 9 points from eight games played.
On the other hand, El-kanemi Warriors are now rock bottom of the Group B table, with just 5 points, 2 points adrift of Nasarawa United and Gombe United, who are on 7 points apiece, and jointly occupies the last relegation spots. www.ckdmedia.ng report
