Kano Pillars has until midnight on Monday, July 3rd to notify the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of the club' intension to appeal ruling of the Players Status and Arbitration commission, which ordered it to pay their former goalkeeper, Bassey Akpan the sum of N11.8 million as compensation for a breach of contract.
In a letter signed by the secretary of the commission, Joshua Onoja, Pillars were asked to remit into the account of the former goalkeeper, the money, being outstanding wages and for violating Articles 14 and 17 of the FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players (RSTP).
The Commission also told Kano Pillars that they have ten days to notify the NFF through its secretariat of their intention to appeal the ruling, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
Asked about how Kano Pillars received the news, the media officer of the club, Idris Malikawa said considering the time lag, the new management was studying the veracity of the rulings, and would only comment after that.
Should Kano Pillars who are at present in Asaba as one of the eight teams competing in the National League Promotional Play-offs, fail to notify the NFF of its readiness to appeal the verdict, the panel said the order to pay Mr. Akpan N11.8 million, becomes final and binding.
The panel also said an appeal on the matter can only be domiciled at the Court for Arbitration in Sports, in Lausanne, Switzerland and warned that further sanctions as spelt out in Article 70 of the NFF Status of 2010 will apply if Kano Pillars ignored or fails to comply with the rulings on time.
