Kabiru Dogo Resigns As Head Coach Of Wikki Tourists

January, 31 2023.

Coach Kabiru Dogo has resigned from his position as Head Coach of Nigeria Premier Football League club, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

Dogo tendered his resignation letter to the management of the Bauchi-based club Tuesday afternoon, to become the first managerial casualty of the 2022/23 Abridged Nigeria Premier Football League, season.

Coach Dogo has been at logger heads with supporters of the Bauchi Tourists, over their poor preseason form, but managed to retain the support of the Club's management. But the bubble appeared to have burst, following an interview he granted after Sunday's disappointing goalless draw with promoted Doma United, in Bauchi.

Dogo who has had stints with Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Sunshine Stars of Akure and Nasarawa United of Lafia was quoted as saying he is not the problem of Wikki, who has so far struggled to cope this season, having just one draw and seated bottom of Group B log, with a solitary point.

The poor run of the club, has no doubt irked the hierarchy of Wikki Tourists, and Dogo who is ranked amongst the best tacticians in the land, with attacking flair has most likely been compelled to throw in the towel after just four match days.

The Wikki Tourists that was in Abuja for a friendly match with the national Un20 team, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, was not a bad team in terms of organisation and on the field of play, and that underlines the fact that sometimes, football can be very funny, and one needs some element of luck to excel. www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

While Kabiru bows out gingerly, the searchlight of the club has been turned to take over the mantle he left behind, and who is capable of steering the team out of their present precarious position on the log.

Coach Imama Amapakabo, formerly of Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors, and Coach Kennedy Boboye who had stints with Plateau United, Akwa United are two top coaches with vast experience in the league, and either of them could be the bookmakers favourite, to land the job.
