The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars Football Club, Mr. Dominic Iorfa on Thursday attended the maiden meeting of the African Club Association (ACA) with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

CAF is launching the African Club Association (ACA) for clubs across the African continent to promote and advance the interests of African Football clubs.

The CAF President confirmed in the meeting that only 60 clubs among thousands of clubs in the African continent were invited for the virtual meeting.

The CAF President discussed various ideas with the clubs and the plans of CAF to improve inter-club competitions and to make African Clubs commercially viable among other issues that were discussed in the meeting.

Iorfa spoke on behalf of the Western African region and he shared his experience as a footballer and also an administrator. He is optimistic the Association will strengthen the relationship among clubs in Africa and commends the CAF President and his Executives for launching the African Club Association (ACA).

The former Nigerian international and Queens Park Rangers player invited Nasarawa State Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Barrister Isaac Danladi to join the virtual meeting.

Danladi was the Chairman of Nigeria's Clubs Owners Association for 12 years, which Iorfa has been a member and also served in the Executive roles.

Iorfa, who is a Board Member of the Nigeria Premier League Body assured the CAF President in the meeting of Nigeria's commitment to the Association and all the reforms that will be introduced.

"I decided to invite Barrister Danladi to join the meeting with me, he was the Chairman of the Clubs Owners Association in Nigeria for over a decade and I understand our battles to strengthen the Association and command deserved respect. I am happy that, CAF is introducing a similar Association in Africa. I am honoured to be part of the selected 60 clubs in Africa, we had an extensive discussion with the CAF President. The Association will build the bridges among African clubs and improve the business side of the game," Iorfa remarked.

CAF will appoint the ACA Statutes Committee (with one appointee per CAF Zonal Union) within 10 days of the ACA Virtual Meeting to draft Proposed ACA Statutes.

The General Assembly in December will be a physical meeting, the Assembly will Adopt the ACA Statutes, Elect the ACA Chairman, and other Office-Bearers and Executive Committee. The CAF President will also officially launch ACA in the General Assembly.
