Congratulates teammates on victory against CIV

Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has clarified that his departure from the Super Eagles camp was based on medical examination by the Super Eagles medic that ruled that he suffered a meniscus injury after sustaining a knock in a pre-AFCON friendly against Guinea in Abu Dhabi.

"I experienced a significant impact from two Guinean defenders leading to a penalty for Nigeria. Despite the medical team recommending substitution for preventive measures, I insisted on continuing to play and completed the game. The following day, my knee swelled and a thorough medical examination revealed a meniscus.

"Consequently, the manager decided to replace me based on the medical assessment, considering uncertainties about my fitness for the AFCON. Upon returning to my club and undergoing thorough examinations, the medical team revealed that I had only suffered a bruise and as a result, I was cleared to resume training."

Sadiq Umar also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles for their outstanding victory against Ivory Coast. He stated that representing Nigeria is always a priority that will never be taken for granted, as he will be glad to return to the team.

"I extend my best wishes to the Super Eagles in the ongoing AFCON. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles."

Umar is back in Sociedad and featured for 17 minutes in his team's Copa Del Rey clash.
