Players and officials of Remo Starts of Ikenne have been rewarded for their "outstanding performances" in the outgone season, in which they campaigned in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and made their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup.
President of the club, Hon. Kunle Soname announced the cash rewards, totalling 28 million Naira for the players, coaching crew and supporters of the team for their commitment, team-work and never-say-die spirit that propelled them to qualify for the NPFL Super Six, where they finished second spot, behind eventually champions, Enyimba of Aba.
In fact, the Sky Blues from Ikenne, Remo did not lose to both Enyimba (1-1) and former champions Rivers United (2-2) and only placed second on inferior goals difference, after all three sides were tied on 9 points on the final day.
By finishing in second spot, Remo Stars clinched one of Nigeria's two CAF Champions League tickets and this is an upgrade from the preceding season, when they finished third position and had to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
During the reception held in honour of the team on Monday, Soname doled out the sum of N20 million Naira to the Players, N5 million Naira to the Technical Crew, N1.5million Naira to the Media Crew and N1.5million Naira to the Supporters Club.
With the players and officials rewarded for their heroics, all will now proceed on a break, while Hon. Soname and Coach Daniel Ogunmodede technical crew, intensify preparation by the club to make their second successive outing on the continent, but first in the CAF Champions League, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
