Gold Rush: Two Nigerian Wrestlers Clinch GOLD at Africa Beach Games, in Tunisia

Multiple African and Commonwealth Champion, Blessing Oborududu and Esther Kolawole added to Nigeria's haul of medals by winning Gold medals, in their respective wrestling events, at the on-going 2nd African Beach Games, holding in Tunisia.


Oborududu struck Gold in women's 70kg+ category by defeating Cote d'Ivoire's Amy Youin 3-2 (victory by superiority).


Following the footsteps of the Bayelsa-born, Oborududu, a Silver medalist at the Japan 2020 Olympics, Esther Kolawole the fiercest of the nation's wrestlers in Tunisia, edged out Algeria's Chaimaa Aouissa 1-0 (victory by point) to take the Gold medal, in Women's 60kg category.


After many years of heroic performances on wrestling mats across Africa and beyond, Oborududu is gradually extending her dominance into other spheres, thereby ensuring that she cements her reputation as a legendary grappler.


www.ckdmedia.ng reports that in addition to their previous Gold medal in Tecqball, Nigeria has now secured three more Gold medals.
