Goal Machine, Gift Orban On Target on Opening Day of Jupiler League

July, 30 2023.

Gift Emmanuel Orban again "grabbed" the headlines on Sunday, on Match-day 1 of the 2023/24 Belgian Pro-Division One League, by scoring the match winner in KAA Genk's 3-2 home victory over visiting Kortrijk FC.

The striker whose performances is being closely watched by some clubs in Europe's top football leagues, got the goal he largely deserved in the 76th minute of the encounter, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

His initial header from the near post crashed against the crossbar, but fell kindly to him and he coolly put away the rebound off an assist by Jordan Torunarigha, son of former Nigeria international, Ojokojo Torunarigha who played as a forward for Chemnitzer FC of Germany between 1991 and 1995, and later became a coach at Hertha BSC of Birlin.

21-year-old Gift Orban had a phenomenal 2022/23 season, during which he scored 20 goals for Genk in the 22 games he featured in, in the second half of the campaign after joining from Norwegian second division club, Stabæk in January 2023.
