FIFA U20 World Cup: Bosso Extends Invite To Two Players of Plovdiv in Bulgarian League

Ahead of May 20th, 2023 commencement of FIFA U20 Men's World Cup, Head Coach of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, Ladan Bosso has handed late call-ups to two additional players. was reliably informed, as the coaching crew of the team have been in a last minute search for technically gifted players that can add value to the team, especially in the attack.

In this light, Emmanuel Umeh - a striker and Nnadi Tochukwu, a holding midfielder will be joining the team on the first week of May from Bulgarian first division side, PFC Botev Plovdiv FC.

A portion of the reply received by the NFF Technical Department from the Bulgarian club reads, "we are happy that PFC Botev Plovdiv football players, Tochukwu Nnadi and Emmanuel Umeh are selected for Nigeria U20 team camp. We are proud of them and we are sure that they deserve this amazing opportunity.

"However, the club stated that the two players will be joining the camp on the 1st of May, after helping the club in an 'incredibly crucial' upcoming game on April 29th".

They went on to plead with the NFF to kindly grant that the duo are permitted to join the rest of the U20 squad in Abuja on May 1st. PFC Botev Plovdiv will on April 29th play one of their most important fixture of the season, the home derby game against Levski Sofia".

The letter also explained that the derby game will be the team's first game on their newly reconstructed stadium, with an opening ceremony, a very important moment for the club, players, fans and the whole city.

The club further highlighted that Nnadi Tochukwu and Emmanuel Umeh are important part of the club and the city and believes they will be good and fitting additions to the Flying Eagles' participation at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina, from May 20th - June 11th, 2023.

Aside Nigeria, Tunisia, Gambia and African Champions, Senegal will be flying the banner of Africa at the 24-team biennial tournament, which was first held in 1977.
