Coach Babaganaru Takes Charge of Gombe United Just 2 Weeks To Kick-off of New NPFL Season

August, 29 2023.

Mohammed Babaganaru had his first training session with both new and old players of Gombe United on Monday, 28th August 2023, www.ckdmedia.ng reports.

Babaganaru, the erstwhile Head Coach of Lobi Stars left Makurdi at the close of last season, after his two-year contract elapsed and was not renewed.

Before then, he led Lobi Stars to the season ending Super-Six tournament, where the team placed last, with just a point and a solitary goal scored on the last day of the competition, to their name.

In the face of all of these disappointments, Coach Babaganaru's credentials have never been in doubt, and he was quickly snapped up by Gombe United, aka the Jewels of the Savannah, as their new Head Coach.

The Coach had in the past, led Kano Pillars to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, back-to-back and has also had stints with Nasarawa United, El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Yobe Desert Stars and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

But with the season-long draw of the NPFL holding today in Abuja, after yesterday's Annual General Meeting (AGM), Baba Ganaru knows fully well that he has limited time to prepare his team, and is in fact in a race against time to get Gombe United fit and ready for a successful 2023/24 NPFL Season.

The position he vacated at Lobi Stars have since been filled by Bala Mohammed, who joined the Makurdi based club, from Niger Tornadoes of Minna.

Gombe United finished overall 7th on the NPFL Group A table, with 19 points and a whopping minus 10 goals difference, from 18 matches and left to see how Coach Babaganaru wields his magic, in turning his new side to spring surprises, with just 14 days left to the commencement of the new season.
