_Fails to Make Cut for 2023 FIFA Cadet World Cup_
Nigeria's Under-17 men's team, the Golden Eaglets are out of the 2023 CAF organized Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations, after losing 1-2 to the Under-17 Stallions of Burkina Faso.
A goal in each half by star boy Aboubacar Sidiki Camara, gave the Burkinabes a deserved 2 goal lead, but Nigeria profited from a defensive mixup to halved the deficit, through substitute Abubakar Abdullahi in the 67th minute, but could not get another goal to force extra time.
Defeat at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, means the Golden Eaglets record 5 time FIFA Under-17 World Champions, have been ousted from the upcoming cadet World Cup initially awarded to Peru.
Conversely, Burkina Faso's reward for the shock elimination of Nigeria is a place in the Semifinals of the CAF U-17 Afcon, along side Mali who had earlier on Thursday thrashed Congo 3-0.
Both countries, and the pair of Senegal and Morocco who won their Semifinal games on Wednesday, automatically qualifies for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup, whose host county is yet to be decided.
The Under-17 Stallions will in the last four face, high-flyers the Cub Teranga Lions of Senegal for a place in the final, while the third West African side still alive in the tournament, takes on Morocco, who ruthlessly ousted the tournament host and bitter rivals, Algeria on Wednesday.
