The management of Rangers Int'l FC of Enugu, has received special praise, from CAF President Dr. Patrice Mosepe, and some of those in the top echelons of managing top African Football Clubs; for the concerted efforts being made by the to rebrand the Flying Antelopes.
The accolades stemmed from the recognition, granted to Rangers by the newly inaugurated African Football Clubs Association; who invited Rangers as one of the 24 elite clubs, for the inaugural meeting, election of officers, and adoption of a draft constitution for the body.
The seven-time NPFL champions, were represented at the well attended meeting, held at the Marriott Menas hotel in Cairo; by the club's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Barrister Amobi Ezeagu; who was a toast of many of the dignitaries, with his eloquent postulations.
The launch which was attended by a number of high ranking delegates, including the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe at Marriot Mena House, Cairo, Egypt.
The ACA meeting was followed by a press conference, addressed by CAF President together with the representatives of the 24 ACA member clubs, which was streamed live on CAF platforms.
The African Club Association (ACA) aims to bring together stakeholders from across the African football landscape, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the continent's club football scene.
The kick-off meeting between African Clubs and CAF President Dr Motsepe was held on 05 October 2023. Dr Motsepe briefed the Club Chairmen about the formation of the African Club Association whose objectives includes to:
Protect and promote the interest of African Football Clubs, and ensure that African Football Clubs are commercially viable, globally competitive and profitable, and
ensure that Referees, Match Commissioners and VAR operators are respected, credible, independent and world-class.
They will as well help in building partnerships with sponsors, the private sector and Governments to build stadiums that comply with CAF and FIFA standards and other football infrastructure and facilities in each of the 54 CAF Member Associations
develop African youth talent, academies for Boys and Girls and improve the quality of African Club football to be world class.
President of Young Africans FC of Tanzania, Hersi A. Said was elected as the inaugural Chairman of the ACA; and he will serve with two deputies: Jessica Motaung from Kaizer Chiefs FC (South Africa) and Nigeria's Paul Bassey from Akwa United FC. www.ckdmedia.ng report.
Barrister Amobi, who doubles as General Manager of Rangers, marked his birthday yesterday, during which he had bilateral consultations with some other delegates that attended the congress; and he is due back in the country today, to lead the Rangers to Jos for their midweek action, against Plateau United, in Jos.
