Awoniyi bags brace in a UEFA Europa Conference game.
August,20 2021

This might be the season Taiwo Awoniyi is actually waiting for, after a long layoff of injury had prevented the former U17 world cup winner the much needed opportunity to score plenty of goals. It's now looking certain and promising after he scored a brace with an assist as he helped Union Berlin cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over KuPS in a UEFA Europa Conference League play-off game.
The former Liverpool striker started the first-half goal feast in Helsinki with a sixth-minute opener.
A few minutes later, Awoniyi supplied Max Kruse to double Union Berlin's lead in the 29th minute. He would then find the back of the net again two minutes later to complete his brace.
However, the 24-year-old tall striker was substituted on the hour-mark as the Iron Ones maintained their first-half dominance.
Awoniyi who was part of the Golden Eaglets squad that won the U-17 World Cup in 2013 has started the season on a high with three goals in three games for Union Berlin.
