Sikiru Alimi scored the lone goal, a minute past the hour mark, as Remo Stars edged Plateau United of Jos, 1-0 in Ikenne-Remo to move back to the top of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), log.
In the past few matchdays, the top spot has also seen Doma United FC, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, alternated their stay at the top of the log.
The Sky Blues from Ikenne, with 22 points, are one point clear of Doma United, which edged Niger Tornadoes of Minna 1-0 on Saturday to knock-off Lobi Stars, and temporarily mount the summit with 21 points.
Alimi's winner, took his goals tally this season to nine (9) same as Bayelsa United's Robert Mizo, who got a brace on Sunday, to rescue a 2-2 draw, at home to Abia Warriors; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
Lobi Stars which conceded in stoppage time, in their 0-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance in Benin, are now 3rd with 20 points; one spot and a point, ahead of the champions, 4th placed Enyimba Int'l FC, which again needed Chijioke Mbaoma to score from 12 yards, to beat Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0, at the Enyimba Stadium, in Aba.
Robert Mizo scored a quick-fire brace, late in the game, as Bayelsa United came from two-goals down, to snatch a draw at home to Abia Warriors of Umuahia, for whom Obi Samson (76th min) and Dehinde Ibrahimal (79th min) had given a 2-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Clement Naantaum's 14th minute finish, was the difference as Sporting FC edged fellow promoted side, Katsina United 1-0, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, in Onikan, Lagos; while the much talked about match-up at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, between 3SC of Ibadan and Heartland FC of Owerri ended in a frustrating goalless draw, for the two sides; especially the Naze Millionaires who are rock bottom of the log, and are still searching for their first three points of the campaign.
But matchday-11 surely belongs to Kano Pillars and their teenage striker, Yusuf Abdullahi, who scored all five goals (four in the first half); as the Sai Masu-Gida demolished Gombe United FC, 5-2 in Sunday's early kick-off, played at the Pantami Stadium.
