Aisha Buhari's Tournament - First Lady Advocates for fair play in Aisha Buhari's Tournament

First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Buhari at the Press conference and Draw ceremony of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament admonished participants to play with fairness and spirit of sportsmanship.

In her remarks, she said:

"Please permit me to start by appreciating the Nigeria Football Federation, and the Local Organizing Committee for organising this Tournament, which provides another window for us to meaningfully impact the life of the Girl-Child. This supports what we have been doing in the Future Assured Programme (FAP) and The Aisha Buhari Foundation (ABF)."

"I have been following the steady growth of Women’s Football in Africa and I am assured it has a very bright future. The successes of our women’s teams testify to its potential to become a robust industry capable of absorbing and catering for the needs of legions of girls and women."

"In recognition of this fact, I have given my full support to the LOC believing that they will work assiduously to welcome the visiting delegations, make their stay comfortable and organize a hitch-free competition that our dear nation, and indeed Africa will be proud of."

"I am aware also of the strength and talent of the women teams of Cameroon, South Africa, Morocco, Ghana and Mali, and I have no doubt that they will all make the Aisha Buhari Cup an entertaining and memorable tournament.
