Former Super Eagles utility player, Garba Lawal has advised the technical crew of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to ensure the team grind out a victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt in their opening game in Cameroun.
Speaking with www.ckdmedia.ng Garba emphasized the importance of winning a first group game in an AFCON tournament.
"As a team if you want to go far in championship you must win every game but the first match in a tournament is very important.
According to him, victory in a first game guarantees stability of a team and prevent unnecessary pressure.
"If you don’t win your first game then your team will be put under pressure".
Lawal stated further that Sudan and Guinea-Bissau looks easy but games are not won on paper, it depends on how Super Eagles approach the game.
"I believe we are going to qualify from that group but it is not going to be an easy ride. There is no minnow in football anymore، our experience against Madagascar at the last AFCON in Egypt should be a big lesson" He stated.
