Abubakar Bala Resigns as Head Coach of Doma United, Sets Unprecedented NPFL Record

June, 19 2024.

Abubakar Bala has stepped down from his position as head coach of Doma United, marking his second resignation from a coaching role within the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) in just four months. This makes Bala the first manager to resign from two different coaching positions in a single season in the NPFL.

Bala initially resigned from his role as head coach of Katsina United in March 2024. His tenure at Katsina United was followed by a brief stint with Doma United, which has now come to an abrupt end with his resignation in June 2024.

Bala’s unexpected departures from both clubs have left fans and analysts speculating about the reasons behind his decisions. While specific details regarding his resignations have not been disclosed, the back-to-back exits underscore the challenges and pressures faced by coaches in the competitive environment of the NPFL.
