Having earlier named Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo as Chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba and former Head Coach of the Flying Eagles, John Ogbu as Chairman of Abia Warriors, the governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti (OFR), has now fully reconstituted the boards of the three (3) football clubs, owned by the state.
According to a statement released on Friday, Governor Otti named Eric I. Asomugha as Vice- Chairman to Kanu, who has had a torrid time, managing affairs of the club, arguably Nigeria's best side of all times. Aside opening the defence of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, with a surprise 0-2 defeat in Gombe, to little known Doma United.
Enyimba are also out of reckoning at the continental.
The Aba People's Elephant lost out 3-4 on goals aggregate, to Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya, and that marked the earliest exist for the reigning NPFL champions, in any of the two CAF Inter-club Championships.
Luckily, the record nine-time Nigerian champions are still in the running for the yet to commence novel tournament, the African Football League (AFL) and that may have enforced the filling of all the vacancies on the board, which now has Frank Adiele Alaribe as Secretary.
Another former Super Eagles captain and legend, Uche Okechukwu, Nwazue Ernest Chibuike, Barr. Chijioke Collins, Ude Jerry, Herbert Okonkwo, Raymond Izuwa, and Onwunali Jap Nnamdi were listed as members.
And for Abia Warriors, James Agbaha Ochunkwo is now the new Vice-Chairman, whilst Francis Obinna Nwaubani has been named board Secretary.
The members of the board are Nwoke Chibuzor Emmanuel, Anokwuru Dennis Chinonye; Nwokocha Charles Agwu; Ukaegbu Herbert; Okezie Chimezie; Francis Chibuike Chilaka; and former Enyimba of Aba player, Emeka Nwanna aka Ayaya.
The statement signed by Prince Okey kanu, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture, named Onuoha Marshal Ibe as Chairman of Abia Comets, with Nna Henry as Vice-Chairman and Henry Steven as Secretary of the board.
Those to serve as board members are Anyanwu Hope Ibezim; Onwuchekwa Chukwu; Okereke Chinedu Emmanuel and Chidi U. Obasi.
