The draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, was conducted last night in Abidjan, and one of the outcome is that Nigeria was pooled in Group A, alongside host county, Côte d'Ivoire; Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
In Group B are Mozambique, Cape Verdé, four-time winners the Black Stars of Ghana and record seven-time champions, the Pharaohs of Egypt.

the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun and the cup holders Teranga Lions of Senegal populated Group C; whilst Angola, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Algeria are housed in Group D.
In all there are six groups (A-F), making it a 24-team tournament; with Namibia, South Africa who are returning to the party after a long period; the Eagles of Mali and Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, in Group E; while Tanzania, 2012 champions and long term absentees Copper Bullets of Zambia; DR Congo and Atlas Lions of Morocco makes up group F.
Nigeria are chasing there fourth trophy at this level, haven won it in 1980 (Lagos), 1994 (Tunis) and in Johannesburg (2013); and the Super Eagles only last week adopted the mantra, "let's do it again", for the upcoming tournament, which holds early next year (2024), due to a force majeure.
The draw outlines a pathway for all the teams, leasing up to the glorious final, and for the Super Eagles, there's a confirmation that the team, fans and usual strong Nigerian media presence; will all be based at the commercial capital; Abidjan, at least for the first three group games; www.ckdmedia.ng reports.
